The Shoshana Session

We're back from the OC, so so so so tired!! I have a ton of pics to post, especially of the boys' Christmas, but I thought I'd post these first. Shoshana agreed to be my model this weekend and we had a quick impromptu session at her house while I worked stuff out. I think they turned out decent for my first session, although, reviewing... I'm seeing some glaring amateur mistakes. Oh well, the only way I'll learn is to keep snapping.

Without further ado...
here is my first session with the gorgeous Shoshana!

My New Lens

I have the most awesome man in the world. He just got me the 50mm lens I wanted for Christmas. I'm so retardedly lucky.

Anyway, here's a couple of quick shots I took with it, still getting used to the fixed lens, but it's spectacular and I'm in deep love.

Okay, so as a Christmas gift for my scrappin' friends, I have made a 5x7 card sized collage for all of those awesome Christmas pics you'll be taking, just think what cute Thank You notes you can make!!
Here is an example of my New Year's Card made with the template.

My Boys

So, I was going to take Yorick to the park today to get some cute pics since I'm so annoyed with the very expensive, very ugly Santa pic that we had done yesterday... but it rained and rained all day.
So while Yorick was napping, I took some shots of Phineas by the window and then Yorick got up and joined in. His face looks like that because he fell asleep on the carpet in his room. ;)

and yes, they're the same pics as on my facebook, I just like sharing, okay?

The Hero Within

The Dark Knight wins best movie all year, hands down, for me. I can't believe what an awesome performance Heath Ledger gave. It makes me sad in a way, since everyone is saying it was his undoing... he got a little too into character. /cry

On a positive note, I'm calling all my costumed geek friends. The first weekend of February, Josh and I will be down in Orange County for the kid monster's 2nd birthday. I am looking for models who want to show off their cosplay costumes and would like a few awesome shots of themselves in them. Josh and I are toying with the idea of taking professional photography to the costumed nerdy masses. You'd certainly feel silly going to a very good photographer and be like, "Hey, take a picture of me in my Hogwarts uniform." But then again, you've spent $XXX amount of dollars on your Hogwarts uniform and only have pics of yourself with con bags and badges or outside of a movie theater or inside a bookstore wearing it. (I have no personal experience whatsoever here. >.>)

We're going to be gathering some interest at Comic Con this year to see how this would fly (this would be included with my regular kid and family business), so I need some models for some portfolio work. And just think... you'll be able to cherish your costume in a beautiful photo forever, no matter how many frappucinos you spill on it afterwards. Hit me up if you want to dust off that Starfleet Uniform, yo and we'll pencil you in for a session the first weekend of Feb.

Today

Long time no blog!! I know, I know, I suck.
The holidays have me really down. And not for the reasons you might think (or maybe they are the reasons you think)... I really like doing stuff for my friends during the holidays, baking, entertaining, etc and being so far away from home, this makes it nearly impossible. I just want to be settled so much, Josh has always felt like home to me from the moment he kissed me, but being so far from Orange County has made me really homesick. I'd really like to find a cute little house to fix up and call our own and money sucks right now.

I love giving stuff for the holidays and money is so tight right now that it's making it nearly impossible and this just... makes me depressed and a little crazy. Being a Sahm is rewarding in it's very special and unique way, but it wreaks havoc on our bank account.

Hopefully I'll just keep learning about my gorgeous hobby and maybe, maybe maybe we'll make a little extra income from it in the near future.

I've been sifting through some professional photography sites and it makes me cringe just thinking about posting my stuff, but I have to show off my beautiful boys somehow!! This is some shots from this morning that I took:

TFL!! We'll be down in SoCal on the 23rd or 24th and we'll likely stay until probably the 29th? I'll see you guys then!!

People Are Spazzes

WTF.
So, I get this random email, some guy emailed me to tell me he liked my blog and that we should date.
What exactly was it that you liked about my blog, sir? The tons of pictures of my toddler and infant sons? Oh, I know, the many pictures of my gorgeous and, oh-god-so-much-better-than-you boyfriend?
If you think looking at random blogs to find a date is an awesome idea, then I have a brilliant bit of advice for you: READ THE FREAKING QUEST TEXT BLOG!!!!!

Sigh.

Okay, on to a bit of randomness...

My Sci-Fi Ramblings, Reviews, and News How I Read It:

Sarah Connor Chronicles
I really liked tonight's episode, that action with Cameron and John in bed was a little weirderrific, but okay, I can hang. I think this show is vastly underrated, I actually look forward to Mondays because of this. Personally, I think Lena and Thomas do a kick-ass job as mother and son, especially how Thomas has a lot of her personality quirks and mannerisms down pat, like only someone can when you live with that person for awhile.
As a Joss Whedon girl, it is blasphemous for me to say that Summer Glau just doesn't do it for me, but she doesn't. I do however find it humorous that future John creates a robot in the image of a hot teenage girl. Typical.
Josh thinks Ellison is a T-1000.

Villains (Heroes)
Hate to start off on a downer, but the powers that be over at NBC decided to dump Jeph Loeb as a producer on Heroes. I like Jeph Loeb, he was our fan point of reference for creative direction on the show, and our comic book liason, so I'm a little bent out of shape and put out about this. Very pouty.
Still hanging on to my newfound love of Sylar. And wtf, there's another person on the show that's related to Claire. (yawn) So now, for uncles she has Peter, Sylar, and redneck Flint. I like Meredith, but I loved her on that teaching show (Boston Public?) and I really loved her as the sex addict on Nip/Tuck.
And no, still don't feel sorry for Angela "I pick favorites among my sons" Petrelli.
Josh still loves HRG. And he noted that, like Lost, even if you die, you could still get a callback.

My Own Worst Enemy
I would go gay for Saffron Burrows. That is all.
Also, you guys do recognize Henry's wife from that ridiculous Stephen King film, Sleepwalkers, right?
Oh, and Taylor Lautner throwing in some MMA and proving that he does have a lot of Edward in him, totally tickled me. Speaking of Taylor Lautner...

There was a stampede at the mall in San Francisco today. A couple of girls got trampled. What could have inspired this heaving mass of bloodthirsty tweens, you ask? Edward Cullen. Yes, yes, a riot ensued over Robert Pattinson signing some autographs while on his Twilight tour at the local Hot Topic. Yes, you read that right, there he sat amidst gay emo tshirts, fuzzy backpacks, black lights, Living Dead Dolls, and striped thigh highs while girls not old enough to menstruate asked him to bite them.

Yay. I love my world.

gotta go, hungry baby might eat the cat if I don't feed him. He is very angry.

GO VOTE

Josh and I went and voted about 9:30-ish this morning. There was no line and it was at the local school. A couple of kids talked to me as they went to recess, it was really cute.

I'm so glad it's over and done with.

I'm also glad Yorick and Phin will be able to say they were there when their parents elected a great president into the White House. <3

Another Miserable Halloween

Well, another Halloween has passed.
Yorick wouldn't nap all day, and was crabby as hell by the time it was time to wake him up from his very very late nap and go trick or treating at the mall... which was overcrowded because of bad weather.

Phin hated his costume at first... as indicated by the first picture, but we got things ironed out with Chewbacca.

Yorick was Darth Vader.

I hope this gets better, because it's sucked two years in a row now. (Both years... places have run out of candy by the time we get there... we start at 6... how is that SO LATE??)

Casa de Fruta

We went to the pumpkin patch at Casa de Fruta on Saturday!

Dear Adam and Josh,

I can has two boyfriends?
Kthnxbai.

I've been a bad blogger...

So these are at least a couple of weeks old, but I thought I'd share anyway... and then later I'll put up some pics of our Pumpkin Patch adventure at Casa de Fruta this weekend.
